There are a number of modifications and enhancements we can perform on the Neo Geo AES console. We can either perform the full works - that is all four modifications for a combined and reduced price, or individual modifications. The choice is yours. Each modification is described in detail with pictures where appropriate. If you want further details on anything, do not hesitate to contact us.
Neo Geo AES Full Modification - £80 UK plus return postage
The full works! All four modifications to really get the best out of your Neo Geo. We add a PAL/NTSC switch, a blue power LED, perform an RGB modification and purchase and fit the latest UniBIOS chip for you.
Addition of 50Hz/60Hz Switch - £20 UK plus return postage
In a similar way to most other consoles we can add a PAL/NTSC switch to the Neo Geo AES. This changes the video output mode between 50Hz and 60Hz. UK consoles run in 50Hz mode as standard so they run 20% slower than US or Japanese machines and have those horrible black borders at the top and the bottom of the screen. Your TV must be able to run a 60hz signal for this to work correctly in full screen mode. This modification is useful if you want to run a Japanese or US Neo Geo AES through an older TV that does not play a 60Hz signal as you can run your console in 50Hz mode.
Addition of Blue Power LED - £20 UK plus return postage
Oddly and annoyingly the Neo Geo doesn't feature a power LED. Many times we have left our console switched on overnight - sometimes even for days. This causes the console power supplies to overheat - even more so if you are running an import console through a step down transformer. The neat addition of a power LED set into the reset switch will overcome this problem. We normally fit funky bright blue LED's however we have other colours available should you wish.
RGB Modification - £30 UK plus return postage
In later releases of the Neo Geo AES console, SNK made changes to the video output which resulted in a darker, softer picture with visible vertical lines down the screen. We can perform an RGB modification that restores the NEO GEO to it's original clear, crisp output. You will need and RGB Scart Cable and an RGB compatible TV to fully appreciate these changes. We sell the RGB Scart cables in the Neo Geo AES Hardware section. Typically, you will not need this modification if your console serial number is lower than 10,000.
Purchase and Fit an Official UniBIOS Chip - £40 UK plus return postage
We can purchase and fit the awesome UniBIOS chip to your Neo Geo AES console. We install a socket in place of your existing Neo Geo BIOS with the latest UniBIOS fitted in the socket. This means that in the future, when a newer version is released, you can remove the UniBIOS chip and upgrade to the latest version should you wish. The chip is officially numbered and licensed to the owner. It comes with the manual to explain all the features and details of how to upgrade to the latest release in the future.
