Coleco

As well as making the ill fated Colecovision and Adam Computer, Coleco (an abbreviation for the COnnecticut LEather COmpany) had a brief yet successful foray into the handheld games market. The produced a number of games including a series of successful table tops from licensed arcade games including Galaxian, Frogger, Donkey Kong and Pacman. Oddly, the Donkey Kong Jr game they produced is almost identical in looks and game-play to the one produced by Nintendo.

Coleco originally manufactured shoe leather, which later led to a business in leather craft kits in the 1950s. They began manufacturing plastic moulding and moved into plastic wading pools in the 1960s. The leather part of the business was then sold off.
